Curated by emerging local talent, Future Weather Productions , the event will feature provocative and entertaining shorts by regional filmmakers and environmental activists. Highlights include selections from Scribe's Precious Places, local filmmaker David Kessler, and a moving hour of shorts about social and environmental activism. And to top off this year's Water Quality Symposium, watch for a sneak peak at FLOW, a Sundance favorite premiering at the Ritz in Philadelphia this fall. 11am Scribe Video Center's Precious Places Community History Project
Precious Places is an oral history project that documents the locations that hold a communities’ memories—public spaces, buildings, parks, street corners, monuments—and define where we live. Together with Boone Nguyen of Scribe, we have chosen a selection of Precious Places videos made in collaboration with community organizations that honor the unique identity of neighborhoods in Philadelphia and Camden and enrich our understanding of these communities' environmental battles and triumphs. Filmmakers will be present for a post-film discussion.

Heart of Camden Eve's Garden 8.5 min
Founded in 2004, Eve’s Garden features a large greenhouse, vegetable beds, and even a hand-built cob baking oven that the kids helped construct from local clay, sand and straw.

Greenfest's Water Symposium concludes with a series of shorts that explore water consumption, conservation, pollution and recreation. Each told in their own unique voice, these shorts stress the importance of protecting our water supplies both locally and globally.

4pm Environmental Films In-Process
Join us for an intimate hour with three diverse filmmakers as they present narrative and documentary video projects at various stages of completion and discuss the inspiration for their work. Subjects include global warming, veganism and a community living under the el tracks in North Philadelphia.
Jenny Deller, Director Future Weather
A character-driven coming-of-age feature being developed in Philadelphia, Future Weather explores our fear of global warming through the eyes of a 13-year-old girl. Jenny will show fundraising trailers and discuss the inspiration for her original script as well as her company's plans for a sustainable production.
Marisa Miller Wolfson, Director Glass Walls
Glass Walls is a guerilla-style documentary feature that tells the story of three people from three different backgrounds who temporarily adopt a vegan diet...and a whole new way of thinking about the world. Outreach Director for Kind Green Planet, Marisa is currently editing the final scenes of this plucky, eye-opening doc. May contain an image that is disturbing for young audiences.
David Kessler, Director Shadow World
Shadow World is a series of short vignettes exploring people, moments and spaces under Philadelphia's el train. It premiered on a blog David devoted to the project. Viewed alone or in series, they offer an intimate look at a place where time is measured not by the movements of the sun but by the rumbling of the el train. David is currently working on a feature-length compilation. Contains language and subject matter that may not be appropriate for young audiences.
5pm Communities & Activism
This inspiring program takes a holistic view of environmentalism. Watch as people - from individuals to institutions, in Philly and beyond - participate in acts that nourish, protect, invigorate and heal both communities and environments. Filmmakers will be present for a post-film discussion.

This short documentary film chronicles the protracted grass-roots fight against CSX and their effort to block the community's access to the Schuylkill River.
Graham Meriwether, Pauline 2 min
A gardener in the urban setting of East New York, Brooklyn, Pauline shares a deep connection with her plants.
Deborah Rudman, City Harvest (excerpt) 18 min
Through cycles of change and growth, prison inmates take part in the "roots of re-entry" greenhouse program, and in partnership with neighborhood gardens, distribute locally grown produce to food cupboards across Philadelphia. The documentary is an uplifting look at City Harvest, a radical social program changing people's lives for the better.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a fun and easy way to maintain an organic and sustainable lifestyle, while also supporting local farmers. Featuring Greensgrow Farm, Scarecrow Hill Farm and candid interviews with Philadelphians.
Christopher Landy, Rwanda Healing Project (excerpt) 17 min
Arts activist, Lily Yeh, of the Philadelphia organization Barefoot Artists, travels to a survivors' village in Rwanda to construct a proper memorial for those killed during the genocidal attacks. This powerful documentary sets out to prove that constructively rebuilding a community’s environment can change and heal the lives of its people.
